Agb Star

An evolved low-to-intermediate mass star in a late phase, fusing helium and hydrogen in shells around an inert carbon-oxygen core. Often pulsates, sheds matter in a strong stellar wind, and seeds the interstellar medium with carbon and other heavy elements. Eventually becomes a planetary nebula with a white dwarf at its center.
