Betelgeuse
A red supergiant marking Orion's right shoulder. Roughly 500-700 R☉ — if placed at the Sun's position, it would swallow Mars. Brightness varies on multiple timescales; the 2019-20 "Great Dimming" was caused by a dust ejection. Expected to end in a Type II supernova within 100,000 years.
