Carbon Star

A cool giant star whose atmosphere contains more carbon than oxygen, the opposite of most stars. The carbon comes from the star's own interior, dredged up to the surface during late-stage evolution. Distinctive deep-red colour caused by carbon-molecule absorption blocking blue light.
