Cassiopeia A

The remnant of a Type IIb supernova that exploded ~340 years ago, ~11,000 light-years away. The brightest extrasolar radio source in the sky. Light echoes have let astronomers spectroscopically confirm the type of the original explosion centuries after it occurred.
