Heliosphere

The vast bubble carved into interstellar space by the solar wind, enclosing the Sun, planets, and much of the Solar System. Its outer boundary, the heliopause, lies roughly 120 astronomical units from the Sun in the upwind direction and extends much farther into a trailing heliotail. The heliosphere helps shield the Solar System from galactic cosmic rays and interstellar material.
