Vela SNR

A nearby (~900 light-years) supernova remnant covering several degrees of sky. The Vela Pulsar at its center is one of the brightest gamma-ray sources, the first pulsar associated with a supernova remnant — direct evidence that core-collapse supernovae form neutron stars.
