White Dwarf

The dense remnant left after a low-to-intermediate mass star (up to ~8 solar masses) sheds its outer layers and exposes its core. About the size of Earth but with the mass of the Sun, supported against gravity by electron degeneracy pressure. Cools and dims over billions of years; the eventual fate of about 97% of stars, including the Sun.
